Taiwan in Kodak BW400CN 35mm Film
This is my first roll of Kodak BW400CN 35mm film using my Olympus OM-1n 35mm film SLR with Olympus OM 28mm F3.5 lens. I brought along this vintage camera along for my Taiwan trip and I was impressed by the grain produce by this film and the camera itself. Here's some of the snap shots..
Took this photo of the paddy field in Hualien while traveling on the train, life's just simple in the country side.
This photo was taken in Beiguang Tidal Park. I did a same shot using my digital EPL-1 and converted it into B&W but in comparison to this B&W film using Kodak BW400CN film, there is really a great difference. The grains produce by film is much better than pixelize digital image.
Took this photo of Tina at the train station. Was amazed by the results produce by the film, the grain of the image is really fine and pleasant.

Hualien (Taroko Gorge), Taiwan Free & Easy Tour Day 4
From Yilan County, we continued our journey from Luo Dong Rail Station to Hualien Rail Station to Taroko Gorge by Tze Chiang Express Rail. From the Hualien Rail Station, exit at the front station, go out of the station on the left hand side opposite the road, you can see the Orange building, Hualien Bus Station. We purchased the Taroko Gorge Pass each at NT $250 and move on to Taroko Gorge.
As we reached Hualien at 1000hrs, time was limited for us to see all the Taroko Gorge. We went to three places, Taroko gorge visitor centre, Swallow Cave and the Eternity Spring. It was fun and the sight of the gorge was really beautiful. Do get a bus guide and plan the trip around the gorge as you travel. Timing of the bus is important as missing the bus will require quite a waiting time.
After Taroko Gorge, we travelled back to Hualien Rail Station and headed back to Taipei (around 2.5hrs through Tze Chiang Express Train). If you will like to travel around Hualien City, the bus service also offers round trip around the city. Do check with the bus service agent.

Yilan, Taiwan Free & Easy Tour Day 3
We travelled to Yilan County, by Taiwan Railway Adminstration (TRA), tickets can be purchased at any railway station on the day. We bought ours at Taichung station since we were at Taichung yesterday. We took the express train Tze Chiang train to Yilan to meet our relative. Yilan is a more relaxed and slower place with good views, shops and food of course. There is also tourists information counter at Yilan railway station and do check out on the travel information.
Our relative took us to Beiguan Tidal Park, which is a very beautiful place. Apart from the scenes of the tidal park, there are also tourists area where you can enjoy the seafood and local food there.
After Beiguang Tidal Park, we went on to the National Centre for Traditional Arts. Walking through the old streets, we found alot of interesting art & crafts.
We went on to Mei Hua Lake, where we had a boat ride round the lake. Bicycles are available for rental too if you will like to ride round the lake. The sight of the lake was nice with the 20min boat ride.
Of course, not forgetting the night market of Taiwan, we stayed overnight at our relative hostel near Luo Dong Rail Station. Luo Dong Night Market offers a great variety of shopping and food.

Traveling to Taichung is simple, we bought the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) ticket on the internet 3weeks before departure to Taiwan and enjoy a 35% early bird discount, alternatively, tickets can be bought at the Taipei Main Station, THSR counter. The journey from Taipei to Taichung takes only 54mins with the rail traveling at 298km/h.
From Taichung HSR station, turn left and go down to Exit 6 and purchase ticket (NT $660) which includes boat ride, cable car ride, round lake bus from Nantou bus agent and travel to Sun Moon Lake which will take 1hr 20mins. Enjoy the scenery along the way, stops at Puli Station and Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is also available, do check on the timing of the bus service.
Nantou bus service will drop at Shuishe Visitor Centre, walk down to Shuishe Pier and take a boat ride which will bring you to Ita Thao Pier and walk along Ita Thao Lakeside Trail leading to the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway (Cable Car).
From Ita Thao Lakeside Pier, we continue the boat ride to Xuanzang Temple Pier and hike up a 10min walk to Xuanzang Temple. At the Xuanzang Temple Pier, we enjoyed the performance of the Shao Native through their native songs.
We took the boat ride back to Shuishe visitor centre and walk along the street where local food and souvenirs can be purchased. We bought some fruits and trust me the fruits are sweet and tasty, not to be missed. Finally, we made our way back to Taichung HSR station by taking the Nantou bus service and head back to Taipei.
